Belt Lipectomy – A Fix for Excess Skin and Fat Around the Abdomen and Waist Line
Do you have trouble with loose skin around the hips? or excess fat around the waist that just won’t disappear? The Lower Body Lift or Belt Lipectomy (Circumferential Abdominoplasty) is a procedure specifically designed to combat these issues by removing a large portion of skin and fat from a 360 degree area around the abdomen/waist area. For many who have undergone an extreme amount of weight loss the most likely thing that they are to find is the excess skin found around the stomach and hips. The reason for this is that these problem areas are the bodies main locations for storing the fat and due to this the skin fibres will stretch as fat deposit grows and will eventually lose the elasticity it once had. Depending on the severity of obesity will determine how stretched the skin will be despite the popular belief that it is the speed at which you lose weight that effects the skin. Whether you lose the weight through exercise and dieting or through bariatric procedures the outcome is the same, you will still be left somewhat dissatisfied with yourself, even despite your best efforts.

What to Expect from a Belt Lipectomy
The Belt Lipectomy is a lengthy procedure when compared to other body contouring operations, however, it provides the biggest transformation out of all of the procedures and will produce some of the most impactful improvements in your body shape and subsequently your confidence. This procedure is commonly undergone with a combination of other procedures such as liposuction, thigh reductions/lift (thighplasty), breast reductions or arm lifts (brachioplasty). When combined with other procedures the operation is usually split into several operations commonly spanning over a range of 18 months.
The procedure involves cutting out a ‘belt’ section all the way around the hips, lower stomach and lower back, this is how the Belt Lipectomy gets its name. The section spans from a line just below the belly button to the pubic line and continues right around the body in a 360-degree section, which is then completely removed with the remaining skin essentially being ‘pulled’ together leaving you with tighter and firmer thighs, waist, buttocks, back and stomach. The patient will eventually finish with a scar spanning right around the top of the hips, buttocks and pubic line which will fade dramatically over time.
Many patients who undergo these surgeries often return saying that it is completely life-changing.
